DeFi Security Summit is a two-day conference focused on smart contract security in the DeFi industry. The summit will host speakers from OpenZeppelin, Immunefi, MakerDao, Secureum, Paradigm, and other organizations.
The first annual DeFi Security Summit will take place on August 27-28, 2022, at Stanford University. Speakers at the event are:
- Aave’s head of smart contracts, Emilion Frangella;
- Nexus Mutual founder Hugh Karp;
- Optimism security engineer John Mardlin, and many others.
The summit focuses on topics such as DeFi vulnerability, cross-network security, and auditing. The conference is aimed to help in solving urgent problems related to the protection of decentralized finance. Particular attention will be paid to analyzing smart contracts’ vulnerability and ways to prevent it.
The main principle of DeFi is that code is law, and smart contracts define the conditions and results for transactions. The innovative direction has many advantages associated with the decentralization and public accessibility of blockchains. However, there are also disadvantages due to the imperfections of smart contracts and DeFi applications, which lead to theft of funds, fraud, hacking, and mismanagement. Blockchain proponents face the challenge of preventing these damages with new software development and security support methodologies. To prevent another loss due to vulnerabilities in smart contracts, it is necessary to be armed with the knowledge of how to protect them.
Summit sponsors include Certora, Trails of Bits, Electric Capital, Immunefi, Hypersphere, OpenZeppelin, and Lemniscap.
DeFi is a sphere of decentralized asset management using blockchain technology. DeFi purports to take the place of the primary economic tool in modern society.
