The Nigerian Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, announced a grant of 5 million naira ($6,444) each for 45 AI-focused startups and researchers.
This move is part of the Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme, aimed at leveraging AI for economic growth. The scheme targets various sectors like agriculture, education, finance, and healthcare.
To qualify, applicants must form a consortium involving a startup, a local or foreign researcher, and align their research proposal with the ministry's AI focus areas.
