Tangem, a company specializing in card-based crypto wallets, is collaborating with Visa to create a new hardware wallet incorporating Tangem Pay technology. This will enable users to make payments at standard terminals.

The Tangem Pay card is distinct from traditional crypto wallets as it relies on a smart contract and lacks a seed phrase. Visa certified this technology back in February 2022. The new product is anticipated to be released by the end of 2024.

Our users will get a two-in-one solution — the convenience of a regular bank card and the capabilities of a self-custodial crypto wallet, all in one card,
said Andrey Kurennykh, co-founder of Tangem.
Furthermore, Tangem aims to provide Tangem Pay as a service to other developers, allowing banks and third-party crypto wallet producers like MetaMask and Trust Wallet to launch their own hardware devices with this technology.

Tangem currently supports approximately 59 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, and others. Visa’s Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the ambition of both companies to deliver an advanced payment solution.
