⚡ AI in the Spotlight: Meta Introduces Mandatory Labeling
posted 6 Feb 2024
Meta, overseeing platforms like Facebook and Instagram, is set to implement a policy requiring users to tag all content generated by artificial intelligence. An automatic detection system for identifying such AI-created images, videos, and audio in posts is also in the pipeline.
"I think it’s really unlikely that you’re going to get a video or audio which is entirely synthetic of very significant political importance which we don’t get to see pretty quickly," Nick Clegg, Meta's President for Global Affairs, remarked.
Clegg cautioned users against disregarding this mandate, stating that penalties could include post removal, warnings, or even temporary account suspension. He further indicated that the influence of AI content on the impending U.S. presidential elections might be overrated by many analysts.
