Amazon’s AWS to Build $100 Million AI Center
Amazon’s cloud unit, AWS, is making a move to compete with Microsoft and Google in the generative artificial intelligence market by establishing the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center with a budget of $100 million.
The center aims to connect Amazon’s AI and machine learning experts with clients who are interested in developing applications using the latest generative AI technologies.
Amazon has already secured Highspot, Twilio, Ryanair, and Lonely Planet as early adopters of the innovation center.
The primary objective is to drive the adoption of AWS cloud services, persuading clients to choose AWS over competitors like Microsoft’s Azure, which has gained an advantage through its partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, or Google, which has been at the forefront of developing the foundational technologies for this emerging field.
AWS CEO Adam Selipsky stated that the company will provide its internal experts to assist AWS customers, particularly those with a significant AWS presence, to accelerate their efforts in implementing generative AI and move beyond theoretical discussions. This assistance will be provided at no additional cost to the customers.
