Following the launch of Meta’s microblogging app Threads, scammers have wasted no time in exploiting the platform for their deceptive activities.
Prominent figures in the Crypto Twitter community have already sounded the alarm about imposter accounts on Threads. In recent days, multiple individuals have identified fake accounts that are impersonating both themselves and others.

Wombex Finance, a decentralized finance platform, shared a tweet on July 8, cautioning users about a Threads account posing as their project and warning that it could be a scammer since the official project is not on the platform.

Similarly, NFT influencer Leonidas alerted their substantial following of over 93,000 followers a day earlier, informing them that scammers on Threads are impersonating large NFT accounts, including their own. To counteract these impersonators, Leonidas has created an official account on Threads.

Scammers often employ phishing tactics to trick unsuspecting users into divulging their crypto exchange login credentials, sharing their crypto wallet seed phrase, or connecting their wallet to malicious smart contracts designed to drain funds.

It is crucial to exercise caution and remain vigilant when engaging with suspicious crypto accounts on this new platform.
