Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, is one of the biggest crypto household names.
While ETH, like the majority of coins, continues to suffer from the crypto winter’s fluctuations Buterin, who was once seen giving an idiosyncratic rapping performance at the 2019 EDON conference, is staying as vocal as ever, especially on Twitter.
One of his recent tweets, for example, highlights the advantages of cryptocurrencies that, according to Buterin, remain underrated.
“People continue to underrate how often cryptocurrency payments are superior not even because of censorship resistance but just because they're so much more convenient. Big boost to international business and charity, and sometimes even payments within countries,” the post reads.
Compared to most other tweets, this post received a much-larger-than-average number of likes – 19 thousand.
Meanwhile, Buterin’s criticism of XRP, which he believes lost its right to protection after Ripple attempted to throw Ethereum under the bus as “China-controlled” – a statement that the Ripple/XRP team first made in 2020 when it described Bitcoin and Ethereum as "Chinese-controlled" -- has sparked a backlash among the XRP community known for its ardent support of the project.
While some of the users supported Buterin, others were far more critical, with one user, who goes by the name of Digital Perspectives.GaryGenslerResign writing a sarcastic tweet that reads, “I guess I'm that regard you have point @VitalikButerin, as it turns out you're #JPMorgan controlled. Care to elaborate on the disguised whales investors that @ethereumJoseph taught how to create fake identities so #ETH would appear more decentralized than it is?”
In his endeavor to upgrade the Ethereum blockchain, Buterin is also gearing up for what it describes as “the most significant upgrade in the history of Ethereum,” with the developers adding that extensive testing and bug bounties were performed “to ensure a safe transition to proof-of-stake.”
Speaking on the subject, Buterin said, “after the Merge, Ethereum will be 55% complete, there’s so much to be done in the coming years and that’s where the opportunity for Web3 builders & enthusiasts comes in.”
On a different note, Buterin, who also opposes Russia’s war on Ukraine, has also recently congratulated the embattled country on its Independence Day, while also calling Ukrainians “brave people” due to their decision to host a web3 hackathon in Kyiv early next month.
