Chris Larsen emphasized the need for Democrats to embrace a new approach to technological innovation:
This message was a response to a post by Teddy Schleifer, a reporter for the Times who covers campaign finance and the influence of billionaires in U.S. politics.

The big-money super PAC Future Forward raised over $100 million just last month.
$10 million from Dustin Moskovitz
$10 million from Chris Larsen
$9 million from a nonprofit called Evidence for Impact
$5 million from JB Pritzker” Schleifer wrote.
In addition to Chris Larsen, Kamala Harris has also gained the backing of another tech figure, Dustin Moskovitz. Moskovitz, an American billionaire, co-founded Facebook, Inc. (now Meta Platforms) with Mark Zuckerberg. In 2008, he left Facebook to start Asana.

As of June 2024, Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index estimated his net worth at $23 billion, meaning his $10 million donation to Harris represents just 0.04% of his fortune.

Earlier, Democratic Senator and crypto skeptic Elizabeth Warren faced off in a debate with her main challenger for the Senate seat, John Deaton. Deaton, who was an attorney in the SEC vs Ripple case, is well-known as a staunch defender of cryptocurrencies.

During the debate, Deaton claimed that his efforts helped expose regulatory overreach and protect XRP holders. According to Deaton, it was his successful defense of investors that led Chris Larsen to make his donation in support of Kamala Harris.

In the summer of 2024, Ripple also donated $1 million to support John Deaton’s campaign. With the ongoing legal battles against the SEC, it’s clear that Chris Larsen is eager to strengthen Deaton’s chances in his race for the Senate seat currently held by Elizabeth Warren.
