In a recent interview with Kitco News, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor highlighted the profound impact Bitcoin and artificial intelligence could have on our future. He likened the progression of AI to the revolution sparked by the internal combustion engines, also expressing serious reservations about the imminent threats posed by AI.
Michael Saylor conveyed that artificial intelligence, once seen as a purely experimental non-commercial technology, is now transitioning into a commercially viable one. It promises businesses substantial productivity benefits without equivalent human resource expenditures.

Yet, AI also comes with its share of issues, particularly in the digital domain. Saylor cautioned that AI bots could exploit social media platforms, distorting reality and exacerbating social tensions. The fundamental problem lies in the absence of reliable cyber integrity checks, providing a fertile ground for the proliferation of counterfeit accounts.

Bitcoin: A Countermeasure to AI Threats

To counter these risks, Saylor suggests employing Bitcoin's foundational layer to create a pair of keys — one public and one private. These keys could be used to incorporate identification data, thereby establishing an unchangeable identity linked to social media accounts. The result? The creation of bot accounts becomes a costly process and subsequently, less practicable.

The co-founder of MicroStrategy divulged that his firm is actively working on this technology. Their goal is to incorporate the cryptographic safeguards inherent in Bitcoin into their corporate security measures.

Saylor underlines that the significance of retaining control over our digital realm is tantamount to the importance of protecting our airspace or sea routes. Hence, this priority holds considerable weight in terms of national security.

It's important to mention that solutions for decentralized identification, which could potentially tackle the problem at hand, already exist. While they don't rest on the Bitcoin blockchain, they have the potential to counteract the stated issue. For example, Polygon ID, launched in early March 2023, is one such solution. Leveraging ZK-Proof technology, it allows users to verify their identities online without having to share or store sensitive data.
