posted  12 Nov 2024
Devcon, an event organized by the Ethereum Foundation, kicked off today, November 12, in Bangkok.

On the first day, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin kicked off with the traditional speech, “Ethereum in 30 Minutes.”
In his presentation, Buterin spoke about what Ethereum is and how it has evolved over time. He emphasized that Ethereum is an ever-changing ecosystem, with both its technology and focus shifting with time.

Currently, the network focuses not just on basic infrastructure but also on applications. Explaining Ethereum’s present state, Buterin said:
Ethereum is: the world computer, an incredibly large & diverse onchain economy, and an incredibly large & diverse global community...all at once.
Buterin discussed various aspects of the Ethereum community, including the Ethereum mainnet, which serves as the anchor that keeps the ecosystem secure, Layer 2 solutions, staking, and more. He described Ethereum as the world computer, as it connects various applications.

As with previous Ethereum events, this year's Devcon featured not only technology talks but also fun elements like costumes and dances. This year, there was a song and dance performed in Chinese to celebrate Ethereum.
The event will wrap up on November 15, with many more exciting discussions expected before then.
