🔥 DWF Labs Fires Partner Over Date Rape Drug Allegations
posted 2 hr ago
On October 29, 2024, venture crypto fund DWF Labs confirmed it had dismissed a partner after allegations surfaced accusing him of attempting to use a date rape drug. Although the company did not disclose the partner’s identity, co-founder Eugene Ng’s name was soon removed from the organization’s website following the announcement.
Date rape drugs are a form of sexual assault, where substances are illicitly added to drinks, causing victims to lose control over their actions and rendering them defenseless.
The incident was reported by Hana, a woman who met with the accused on October 24 for a job interview and alleges that the DWF Labs partner spiked her drink in a Hong Kong bar.
In an interview with Decrypt, Hana shared that she had met with the DWF Labs partner twice to discuss potential employment.
During their second meeting, while she briefly left the table, Eugene reportedly spiked her drink. Upon returning and drinking a few sips, Hana immediately began feeling unwell.
The partner soon left the table, and a waiter approached Hana, informing her that he had observed the individual adding something to her drink. After reviewing the surveillance footage, the bar staff confirmed the waiter’s account.
Hana recounted that the bar staff provided her with an unaltered drink, which she kept for the remainder of her stay. She also stated that Eugene had pressured her to finish her drink, repeatedly invited her to his hotel, and made frequent references to personal topics like relationships and intimacy.
After Hana went public with her account, the partner reportedly sent her messages on Telegram and attempted to call her multiple times. An alleged friend of the accused also contacted her, urging her to take down the post.
