Elon Musk’s Grok Chatbot Now Understands Images

Grok, an AI chatbot by Elon Musk’s xAI, can now understand images and answer users’ questions. You can try the feature only if you’re a paid user of the social platform X (formerly Twitter).

However, in short, it has room for improvement as users have caught several mistakes.

On October 28, an xAI team member announced the release of the new feature on X, encouraging users to report any bugs.
In a separate post, Elon Musk shared how Grok responded to a request to explain a joke by uploading a meme. Grok explained the situation in the image, the context behind it, and other details.
Musk wrote that Grok understands images and can even explain the meaning of the joke while adding that it’s an early version and will improve rapidly.

The AI bot’s image recognition feature has already received a lot of feedback from users on X. Some comments state that Grok can’t understand basic memes, while others shared accurate answers.

Launched in September 2023, Grok integrates with X to generate text and hold conversations with users, also offering real-time answers based on direct access to the platform. Among Grok's main competitors are ChatGPT, Google Bard, Claude, and other AI systems.
