📣 Ethereum to Host the First-Ever Attackathon to Enhance Security
posted 9 Jul 2024
The Attackathon aims to be the first crowdsourced security audit to identify vulnerabilities in Ethereum’s protocol code. This event will be conducted in collaboration with the security firm Immunefi.
The hackathon will span four weeks. It will start with a briefing on the critical elements of Ethereum's code, followed by participants actively testing the blockchain to detect flaws. At the conclusion of the hackathon, Immunefi will compile a comprehensive report on the discovered vulnerabilities.
To incentivize participation, a reward pool of $2 million has been set up. The initial $500,000 has been contributed by Immunefi and the Ethereum Foundation, with an additional $1.5 million anticipated from sponsors. Sponsors will receive an NFT and recognition in a special sponsor ranking.
The organizers intend to host similar programs for each upcoming network hard fork.
