FBI Investigates Kraken Co-Founder Jesse Powell
The FBI has conducted a search at the Los Angeles residence of Jesse Powell, co-founder of Kraken, as part of an investigation into allegations of hacking and cyber-stalking involving a nonprofit arts group that he established.
The criminal probe focuses on the claims made by the Verge Center for the Arts, an organization founded by Powell, which accuses him of impeding their computer accounts and obstructing access to emails and other messages.
Jesse Powell’s attorney, Brandon Fox, clarified that the investigation primarily centers around the allegations made by the Verge Center for the Arts and is unrelated to Powell’s involvement in the cryptocurrency industry. This was also confirmed by a spokesperson from Kraken.
During the search, electronic devices were seized from Powell’s residence in Brentwood, Los Angeles. However, it should be noted that prosecutors have not formally charged Powell with any crimes at this time.
