🔥 Firefly by Adobe Enters the Ring with OpenAI and Meta
posted 14 Oct 2024
At the Adobe MAX event on October 14, Adobe (San Jose, California) unveiled an expansion to its Firefly AI tool suite.
But Firefly Video has even more up its sleeve.
On October 14, Adobe released new Firefly features for testing:
Generative Extend: This video tool can stretch footage, fill gaps in recorded material, and smooth transitions for a more polished result.
Text to Video and Image to Video: These features allow users to create videos from text prompts or convert still images into dynamic video content.
Firefly Image 3 Enhancements: The new version generates images with incredible speed—up to four times faster than before.
Generative Workspace in Photoshop: Designed for collaborative brainstorming sessions, this tool helps teams take ideas from conception to execution, refining and reshaping them along the way.
Firefly Vector Model Enhancements in Illustrator: New AI tools such as Generative Shape Fill, Generative Recolor, and Text to Pattern have been introduced, driven by the latest version of the Firefly Vector Model.
Adobe also introduced Project Concept, a real-time collaboration feature allowing multiple users to blend and edit images on a single canvas simultaneously, streamlining creative development.
Firefly: One Year In, What’s Been Accomplished?
So far, Firefly has been responsible for generating over 13 billion images. In just the last six months, the figure has jumped by 6 billion, reflecting the exponential growth of the platform.
As the leading force in creative software, Adobe’s access to extensive datasets for commercial use helps train its AI models and gives it a strong edge over other major players in the AI market.
This allows Adobe’s customers to legally incorporate Firefly-generated content into their commercial work without concerns.
Firefly: Who’s already on board?
According to Adobe, Gatorade, part of PepsiCo, will integrate its image-generation technology into a platform where customers can personalize bottle designs.
Meanwhile, toy industry leader Mattel is relying on Adobe’s design tools to develop packaging for their Barbie dolls.
The newest model, Firefly Video, goes head-to-head with OpenAI’s Sora and other video tools from ByteDance and Meta Platforms, launched earlier this year. It can now generate both images and videos from basic text descriptions.
