🔥 Formula 1 to Utilize AI for Rule Enforcement at Races
posted 25 Nov 2023
At
the forthcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Formula 1 is gearing up to launch
an artificial intelligence system, "Computer Vision," to monitor and
assess violations on the racetrack. This system's primary function is to
track cars crossing the white boundary lines of the track.
"The
biggest imperative is to expand the facility and continue to invest in
software, because that’s how we’ll make big strides," remarks Tim
Malyon, the head of FIA's remote operations department.
This
AI implementation is set to lighten the load on the team responsible
for ensuring adherence to rules, leading to quicker responses to evident
violations. Previously, the responsibility of monitoring up to 1200
potential rule breaches fell on just four individuals.
