Montenegrin authorities have detained Roman Ziemian, a Polish national and co-founder of the cryptocurrency company FutureNet, which is suspected of defrauding investors of approximately $21 million. He was found in a new residential area in Podgorica, living under a false identity.

Ziemian faces charges related to economic crimes, including money laundering and theft. During his arrest, authorities confiscated technical devices and other items potentially linked to his criminal activities. He is set to appear in court soon for extradition proceedings.

Both Poland and South Korea, which issued international arrest warrants following Ziemian's escape from house arrest in Italy several years ago, are seeking his extradition. His business partner, Stefan Morgenstern, was arrested a year earlier in 2023.

This case resembles that of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon, who has been in Montenegro for over a year awaiting extradition to either the US or South Korea. Both countries are pursuing the right to prosecute him for alleged fraud.
