American AI company Groq partnered with Saudi oil producer Aramco to build an AI data center. This facility is anticipated to be a crucial technological hub for companies across the Middle East, Africa, and India.

Aramco is set to fund the construction, with Groq managing the data center's operations. The project is valued at over $1 billion, though exact financial details remain under wraps. An initial phase with limited capacity is planned to launch by the end of this year, with expansions following as customer demand increases.
We voluntarily decided not to sell to any Chinese companies or entities even before this crackdown,
noted Groq Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Ross.
Saudi Arabia presents several key advantages for this project, including low electricity costs, available land for swift expansion, and robust internet infrastructure. Furthermore, the country's strong desire to become at least a regional, if not a global, technology hub plays a significant role.

Notably, Aramco has long been supporting AI developers through its Aramco Digital division, not only to provide businesses with access to AI but also to diversify its own energy business.
