📣 Kelly Carlin: "No Machine Will Ever Replace His Genius"
posted 12 Jan 2024
Kelly Carlin, the daughter of the legendary standup comedian George Carlin, expressed criticism over a comedy show generated by artificial intelligence based on her father’s past performances. This show aimed to present current societal issues while trying to mirror George Carlin's distinctive comedic style.
“My dad spent a lifetime perfecting his craft from his very human life, brain and imagination. These AI generated products are clever attempts at trying to recreate a mind,” Kelly stated.
She advocates for greater appreciation of living comedians and warns against trying to capitalize on or degrade the legacy of renowned artists, especially those who have passed away. Kelly suggests that people should revisit any of George Carlin's fourteen original shows instead.
