Financial firm Metaplanet has finalized an agreement with BTC Media to establish a Tokyo-based branch of Bitcoin Magazine, aimed at engaging Japanese readers in the cryptocurrency space.
In May 2024, Metaplanet signed a memorandum with BTC Media. This partnership laid the groundwork for launching the Japanese edition of the iconic Bitcoin Magazine.
On November 25, the agreement officially came into effect. According to the official announcement, the project’s primary goal is to attract Japanese readers and organizations to the Bitcoin ecosystem. The full-scale launch is scheduled for Q1 2025, with Metaplanet actively recruiting top-tier professionals in content creation, editorial management, business development, and social media management.

The launch of Bitcoin Magazine Japan is part of Metaplanet’s broader initiative to expand its presence in global markets. By partnering with local Bitcoin influencers, producing specialized content, and hosting webinars tailored to the Japanese audience, the company aims to accelerate crypto adoption. Metaplanet plans to establish a strong crypto-business ecosystem in Tokyo using Bitcoin Magazine as its platform.
Earlier in 2024, Metaplanet adopted Bitcoin as the primary reserve asset for its treasury holdings. The company intends to leverage excess cash flow for further cryptocurrency accumulation while enhancing corporate governance.
Representatives of Metaplanet highlighted Bitcoin’s unique features—limited supply and decentralized monetary policy—as key drivers for their strategic decision.
