Otherside: a gaming metaverse by Yuga Labs
A vibrant and dynamic metaverse where the player's actions shape the course of events.
The project is developed by Yuga Labs, which launched the NFT collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club and bought the rights to CryptoPunks and MeeBits.
Therefore, owners of the listed non-fungible tokens who decide to enter Otherside will receive 3D character objects based on their NFTs. Holders of other digital certificates can move their characters into the metaverse using ODK, a set of tools for creating items and objects in Otherside.
The only digital currency used as payment and rewards within the metaverse is ApeCoin, a governance and utility token used within the Yuga Labs projects.Otherside is a virtual realm that combines NFT and other Web3 elements with MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games).
One of the distinguishing features of this metaverse is its ability to work seamlessly with similar products. Another unique quality lies in the capability to process up to half a billion operations per second or accommodate 10,000 online players simultaneously. By comparison, traditional online games can handle up to 10,000 operations per second.
The metaverse is built on Improbable Worlds Limited's M² technology, which includes artificial intelligence, machine learning, and realistic physics. This provides the advantage of excellent scalability, high bandwidth, and realistic texture rendering. Users may play games, explore the Otherside's galactic worlds, collect resources, build new objects, and communicate via voice chat.

What is the current stage of metaverse development?
Otherside is still in its initial stage of development and serves as a platform for creating a virtual world. Once the game is officially launched, regular users will be able to access an exciting gaming environment with adventures and socializing. However, the exact launch dates have not been announced by the creators.
For now, only NFT Otherdeed holders and developers known as Voyagers can explore the game's initial phase called The Voyager's Journey.
Developers will continue to improve the functionality of the metaverse as they receive feedback from early adopters. Currently, Voyagers offer their own ways of interacting with the environment based on personal experience. Dedicated supporters of Yuga Labs and members of their exclusive club have a say in which features, tools, and moderation elements will be implemented, and which ones will be excluded. In this way, they influence the direction of the game's development.
The first phase of the game consists of 11 storylines, such as First Trip, The Codex Koda Origins, The Growth, The Agora, The Dream, and more. All of these storylines are connected by a mystical obelisk.

The first trip took place in July 2022, where selected participants were given the opportunity to test out various game elements and get a feel for the technical capabilities of Otherside.
Participants who successfully complete all 11 parts of the obelisk will receive additional benefits upon the public launch of the metaverse.
What are Otherdeed NFTs?
Otherdeed functions as an NFT land that provides access to a world that is still in the initial phases of its development.
These lands come with natural elements, resources, and other attributes.
As the owner of Otherdeed, one has full control over what happens on their land, as long as they don't violate the community's rules. The actions of the character affect the condition and fertility of their plot.
The collection of individual Otherdeed makes up the Otherside metaverse, which is part of a galaxy consisting of five distinct worlds – Biogenic Swamp, Chemical Goo, Rainbow Atmos, Cosmic Dream, and Infinite Expanse. Each unique NFT land option is divided among these worlds.

A total of 200,000 Otherdeed NFTs have been created, with the first 100,000 going on sale in April 2022. The remaining portion will be distributed among the first explorers based on their contribution to the metaverse evolution. As of the end of March 2023, the cheapest NFTs of this kind on OpenSea cost about 1.3 ETH.

Kodas. These are ancient, primitive creatures that inhabit the metaverse. They're the ones who helped humans discover the Otherside world, although no one really knows why they did it. It's said that meeting a Koda is a sign of good luck, but you should be careful not to make any sudden movements.

Resources. Each Otherdeed NFT is filled with renewable natural materials of varying rarity (anima, ore, shards, and roots). They can be collected and used as raw materials for crafting items.
