PUBLIKFRUIT: From Filmmaking to the Abyss of Neural Networks
PUBLIKFRUIT is an American artist, photographer, and filmmaker who actively incorporates artificial intelligence into his art and releases NFT collections.
From a young age, he frequently moved between cities, including New York, San Francisco, and Brooklyn, but recently settled in Berlin. He pursued higher education at the University of San Francisco, where he developed a strong passion for filmmaking and even lived in Los Angeles to break into the film industry. There, he gained experience in film editing, but soon shifted his focus to animation and photography in all their forms.
Having discovered the blend of cinema and animation, PUBLIKFRUIT dove deep into 3D creativity and motion design. Naturally, the advent of artificial intelligence further broadened his experimental horizon.
AI holds tremendous promise for marginalized communities; the less fortunate, individuals with disabilities, young artists, and those who have struggled to find the means or physical skills to express themselves artistically,PUBLIKFRUIT notes.
Now, he incorporates artificial intelligence at nearly every stage of his artistic process. The artist explains that he tries to maintain close control over all the changes, but sometimes steps beyond his own limits and gives the models more freedom to achieve the desired outcome. In this, he sees an opportunity to view art from a new perspective while maintaining an emotional human aspect.

PUBLIKFRUIT's De La Naught stands as the sole, yet highly successful, public NFT collection. It comprises 100 animated clips generated by AI based on the artist’s original photographs. The primary objective was to showcase the potential evolution of specific frames and the emotional responses they elicit from viewers.
To craft this collection, the artist utilized the open-source AI model Deforum—an animated version of Stable Diffusion. The creator trained and tailored four different versions of the model solely on his own creative works (photos, videos). This personalized approach resulted in original and one-of-a-kind pieces existing solely within De La Naught.
Despite ongoing experiments with AI models, PUBLIKFRUIT insists that he perceives them merely as tools, akin to paints, cameras, or graphic tablets. According to him, artificial intelligence helps humans transcend conventional understanding as it possesses almost boundless potential, yet it cannot replace genuine creativity.
The artist encourages fellow creators to experiment and collaborate, advising them not to be tethered to a single theme but to remain open to new opportunities.
