The popular gaming platform Roblox has added an AI-powered translator to its in-game chat, enabling players to communicate in real time across different languages and understand each other seamlessly.
To achieve this, the company developed its proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) capable of translating with a base latency of 100 milliseconds and supporting 16 languages.
The system has been rained on a mix of publicly available and proprietary data, and fine-tuned with advanced translation algorithms. This allows it to adapt to slang and evolving language trends.
This new feature has significantly enhanced player interaction and the overall quality of experiences on Roblox, which enjoys a global daily active user base of 70 million.
