Mark Uyeda, a Commissioner of the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) and lead chair candidate says the war on crypto will end under Donald Trump’s administration.
The Commissioner believes that the SEC’s current enforcement policy toward crypto has been disastrous.
Donald Trump will take office on January 20, 2025, and Mark Uyeda says he will help fulfill Trump’s promise to end the war on crypto.

According to Uyeda, one path that can be taken is pausing enforcement actions until there are clear rules for the industry.
It’s not the first time Uyeda criticized the SEC’s crypto approach. Previously he said the agency has been sending policy through enforcement while doing nothing to provide guidance on it.
The Commission’s war on crypto must end, including crypto enforcement actions solely based on a failure to register with no allegation of fraud or harm," he said. "President Trump and the American electorate have sent a clear message. Starting in 2025, the SEC’s role is to carry out that mandate.
Current SEC chair Gary Gensler is known for his anti-crypto views. He was appointed the chair of the SEC in February 2021. Under Gensler’s leadership, the agency brought more than 100 enforcement actions against crypto companies, including Ripple, Coinbase, Consensys, and others.
