The era of wine futures has passed. Now, it's time to cultivate digital wine with the help of the startup, Bored Grapes! Thankfully for investors, the yields of their efforts can be exchanged for a tangible bottle of an exclusive libation crafted by skilled vintners.
Bored Grapes represents the alliance of a renowned vintner, "bored" Web2 professionals, and wine connoisseurs, who joined forces to establish an exclusive wine club in the Web3 realm.  The founders' maxim is concise yet eloquent - "Mint. Cultivate. Savor."

The founders and partners of the digital winery include BAYC owners, which has been one of the reasons for their collaboration with the Yuga Labs ecosystem. Specifically, the Vinum Estate startup's inaugural vineyard will be established in the Otherside metaverse, where virtual events will be held for members of the Bored Grapes wine club.

The art of cultivating digital wine

"Grow to Drink" is an innovative Web3 venture that enables participants to cultivate and harvest grapes, filling their empty wine bottles with the fruits of their labor. At each step of the digital winemaking process, a distinct series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is released, which are essential for maintaining the logical sequence of beverage production.

As per the developers' idea, users are required to go through three basic stages:

  1. Collecting consumables, such as wine bottles, corks, and barrels, constitutes the first of three fundamental stages in the project. The three different types of empty bottles - Agape, Chardonnay, and Altus - each allow for claiming a specific kind of wine - Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, or Pinot Gris, respectively. The initial NFT collection, which featured 5,555 empty bottles, was given away for free and sold out in less than an hour. Currently valued at 0.0008 ETH on the secondary market, the collection has a market capitalization of 47 ETH.
  2. The cultivation of grapes is the next aspect of this project. Grape Vines, the second paid NFT collection, is set to launch in the near future. It comprises 5,555 grapevines of varying degrees of rarity, growing at different rates and producing varying amounts of grape clusters each week. Harvesting grapes can only be initiated once eight grape clusters (112 grapes) have appeared. If harvesting commences prior to this, the grapes will begin to rot and the winemaker will forfeit one cluster per week.
  3. The amalgamation of grapes, bottles, and corks into a unified entity. Each full wine bottle is designed for the purchase of a physical beverage, which is crafted by one of the Bored Grapes' co-founders, Nicholas Killer, utilizing grapes grown on premium vineyards in Oregon.

The Bored Grapes project caters not just to private investors but also to business associates. Digital wine barrels constitute the core of collaborations with other companies. Each barrel represents approximately 300 wine bottles.  Partners of Bored Grapes can design a unique marketing strategy for them and sell beverages under their own proprietary label.

Once users have successfully cultivated their virtual grapevines and redeemed a physical bottle, they will gain entry into an exclusive wine club.  Members are entitled to participate in a variety of themed events and sweepstakes for rare digital and physical collectibles, enjoy exclusive access to limited-edition drinks and special releases, and receive discounts commensurate with the rarity of the grapes they have cultivated.

After the release of the Grape Vines NFT collection, the creators intend to introduce grape staking and advance their proprietary wine brand, "Sloth Juice."
