By mid-2025, Solana will unveil its new crypto phone, the Solana Seeker—the next step forward and an upgrade from the Saga smartphone. Pre-orders have surpassed all expectations. This could reflect increasing interest in the Solana ecosystem and its mobile solutions, but the impact of airdrops is also widely acknowledged.
Although there was initial skepticism, the Solana Saga smartphone release turned out to be a remarkable success for Solana Labs in the hardware space. The device surged in popularity, especially after a firmware update and enhanced partner rewards. In just six months, all phone units were sold out, and the company decided to keep the momentum going. On September 18, 2024, Solana Mobile, a subsidiary launched by Solana Labs for the mobile market, announced the imminent release of a new gadget for crypto enthusiasts—Solana Seeker.

Solana Seeker Features: Smartphone Price and Aesthetics

First off, the Solana Seeker price ($500) will be significantly lower than the Saga’s ($1,000), making it more accessible to a wider audience. However, Saga buyers were able to save significantly thanks to a generous BONK token airdrop. After the sales began, the token's price surged so much that it effectively made the phones free for their owners.

Whether similar airdrops will be planned for Solana Seeker buyers remains unknown.  But the hype is real—by September 21, 140,000 users decided to order Seeker, with a one-phone-per-customer limit. This is seven times more than the total Saga sales!

Those who pre-ordered the Solana Seeker by placing a deposit before September 22 got the phone for only $450.

Another key difference between the Solana Seeker phone and the Saga is its smaller size and lighter weight, designed to enhance everyday usability. The phone's body will retain the dark graphite color. More precise specifications have yet to be revealed by the developers.

In one of his interviews, Solana Mobile CEO Emmet Holyer assured that the Solana Seeker would come with an upgraded, brighter "flagship display."

The Solana Seeker will also come equipped with a longer-lasting battery, fixing one of the Saga's shortcomings. On top of that, the Solana Seeker smartphone will have an enhanced camera system with an additional rear sensor for studio-quality photography.

Solana Seeker Cryptocurrency Features

Solana Labs CEO Anatoly Yakovenko explained: “We founded Solana Mobile with the mission of taking crypto mobile. To achieve that, we needed to make Seeker more accessible, more affordable, and for its hardware and software to be even more deeply integrated for web3.”

The Seeker is positioned not just as a smartphone, but as a versatile tool for engaging with the DeFi ecosystem.

Perfect for cryptocurrency management, the Seeker comes with Seed Vault—a secure storage feature built into the hardware—and the Solflare wallet, a non-custodial solution within the Solana ecosystem. It allows users to store, send, receive, and stake Solana blockchain-based digital assets.

Beyond that, the Solana Seeker smartphone offers seamless access to various dApps, such as DeFi services, NFT marketplaces, and gaming platforms. Solana Seeker can also function as a launch platform for node operations and mining decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN).

Solana Seeker: Additional Perks

Solana Seeker provides crypto users with advanced features for working with decentralized applications (dApps) and managing their digital assets.

The Solana Seeker is outfitted with the upgraded Solana dApp Store 2.0, offering a wider selection of decentralized apps and the ability to track rewards.

Moreover, those who buy Solana Seeker smartphone will be awarded a one-of-a-kind, non-transferable soulbound token, giving them access to exclusive deals and perks in the Solana ecosystem.

In Conclusion

If the developers' promises match reality, we’ll see a unique device on the market that combines solid performance, user-friendliness, and deep Web3 integration. This makes the Solana Seeker smartphone appealing not only to seasoned crypto enthusiasts but also to beginners exploring new technologies. Given Solana’s strong ecosystem with numerous projects and developers, there’s little doubt that demand and the eagerness to buy Solana Seeker will be high.
