Stoner Cats is a short animated series that originated in pre-pandemic times. Its main feature (apart from the non-trivial plot) is that you can only watch it after purchasing the NFT.
Animators Sarah Cole, Ash Brannon, and Chris Cartagena collaborated with Mila Kunis to create a rather charming animated series about an elderly woman, Mrs. Stoner. The story was inspired by the mother of series co-creator Sarah Cole, who turned to medical cannabis as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease.

One may ask, what is so charming about this story? The answer is - Mrs. Stoner’s feline friends. The five cats accidentally got high on the marijuana and found themselves sentient. The plot revolves around the cats who repeatedly save their beloved owner from all sorts of troubles.

Mila Kunis and her partners from Orchard Farm Productions were amused by the story. To bring the idea to life they gathered a stellar cast of actors and NFT experts, because a “hilarious and intimate story like this needed to have deep direct engagement with its audience.”

The kittens are voiced by Kunis herself, and stars like Jane Fonda, Ashton Kutcher, Chris Rock, and Seth MacFarlane. Moreover, the wise and experienced Lord Catsington is voiced by Vitalik Buterin.

All characters became the basis of the Stoner Cats NFT collection. 10,420 digital pieces of art are not only valuable for collectors, but also a ticket to watching the animated series. On July 27, 2021, NFTs worth 0.35 ETH each sold out in 34 minutes, triggering a short-term spike in gas prices. Not a surprise, considering a triple-A cast and team of creators.

Stoner Cats is one of the first shows to provide the viewer with direct contact with the team and to open the door behind the scenes. The story about Mrs. Stoner and the caring cats came to an end after six episodes. At the end of 2022, the creators announced on Twitter that all content is protected by tokens and will remain on the blockchain. It cannot be deleted and it will be available for future generations. The Stoner Cats may appear in another NFT project by Mila Kunis – The Gimmicks.

At the time of writing, the Stoner Cats NFT price starts at 0.0399 ETH with a total market cap of 7,866 ETH.
