Superchief Gallery NFT: Pushing Digital Art Limits

Superchief is a community dedicated to promoting digital art since 2012. The main goal of the project's founders, Ed Zipco and Bill Danilivi, is not only to support underground artists, but also to make NFTs an integral part of culture.
For 10 years, Superchief has been promoting digital art in various formats across New York and Los Angeles. These included group exhibitions, Sunday barbecues, and joint displays of traditional and digital art objects. In 2021, the project took a new turn with the launch of Superchief Gallery NFT - the world's first physical (IRL, in real life) gallery dedicated exclusively to NFT art.

Located in the heart of New York City, the gallery promotes digital art as a mainstream art form. It plays a crucial role in achieving this goal by showcasing NFTs on commercial-grade displays with high resolution instead of traditional plasma screens.
This new space aims to close the gap between the two worlds and establish a cultural meeting space for all parties, gathering for big moments as well as private events & IRL minting

Regular participants in events at Superchief Gallery NFT include digital art legends such as Swoon, Driftershoots, On The Roofs, Parker Day, and other renowned artists. The gallery not only organizes exhibitions on its own, but also serves as a venue for events hosted by major players in the digital industry such as OpenSea, Quantum, Foundation, and Makersplace.

Despite being in New York, Superchief Gallery NFT successfully introduces digital masterpieces to Tokyo residents. This was made possible thanks to a collaboration between the project and NeoShibuya TV. This made giant billboards in Shibuya City available to hundreds of artists.

The Superchief Gallery NFT's creators emphasize the art space's low carbon footprint. To compensate for the negative impact of NFT minting on the environment, carbon credits are included as an additional measure.

Cheney Orr: War Notes

Among the many collections on display at Superchief Gallery NFT, the "War Notes" initiative by Pulitzer Prize nominee Cheney Orr stands out. As part of this project, the photojournalist documented 53 portraits and interviews during a six-week trip through war-torn Ukraine in spring 2022.

Cheney Orr visited Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia. He compiled his materials into an artist's book, published in limited edition. "War Notes" have been added to the collections of leading cultural and educational institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford Universities, Brown University, and Swarthmore College. All proceeds from the book sale go to Ukrainian journalists' support.
