On July 31, Telegram messenger announced an update that introduces several new features, including an integrated Web3 browser and a mini-app store.

Pavel Durov's Telegram is evolving into more than just a messaging app, resembling China's WeChat and Elon Musk's vision for X.

According to the release, the built-in browser will support tab switching and enable users to access decentralized websites hosted on the TON platform.

Telegram apps now have a dedicated section where users can explore the most popular games and services and discover new ones.

The update also allows users to:

  • Gift Telegram Stars to friends;
  • Enable flash for video messages on the front camera;
  • Add covers and weather widgets to stories;
  • Share mini-apps through stories.
