Tether has frozen nearly 161 Ethereum wallets, with only 11 holding USDT.
One of these wallets was found to hold $3.4 million, associated with the Stake platform hack.
Another owner of a sanctioned wallet managed to withdraw approximately $400,000 the day before the freeze.
This decision aligns with the company's recent adoption of a new policy allowing for the voluntary freezing of wallet addresses.
As outlined in Tether's blog, this initiative is a precautionary measure to enhance cooperation with global regulatory and law enforcement bodies, aiming to ensure the secure usage of stablecoins.
