The Little HODLer series initially emerged as comics that narrate Bitcoin's origin, its contrast with currencies issued by banks, and its market dynamics, all through a cast of unique characters. It explains the concept of Bitcoin in simple, kid-friendly, and creative terms.
Over time, the Little HODLer expanded into an online store with many items for children and Bitcoin advocates. 

Now, even the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, has his character toy created by the team.

What Does HODLer Mean? 

HODLer is one of the most used words in crypto slang. It describes investors who hold their assets regardless of market volatility. HODL is the misspelling of “hold,” standing for HOLD on (for) Dear Life. HODLers believe that cryptocurrencies they own will increase in price, so they refuse to sell. HODLing is a simple strategy and is used by beginners and people who don’t want to engage in active trading. 

In “The Little HODLer” comic book, the character learns about Bitcoin and starts his financial journey with it. 

How Was The Little HODLer Created? 

The story of Little HODLer started in July 2020 when its creator, Lina Seiche, drew her first comic. This illustration marked the foundation of the Little HODLer book, which was published in April 2021. It contains 100 little comics that explain money through pictures instead of complex diagrams.

On the website Lina mentions that she created the cartoon while being stuck in a quarantine hotel in Taipei, Taiwan.

Team Members of the Little HODLer

The Little HODLer has a small team of four core members: Lina, Danny, Asli, and Tai. As mentioned earlier, the creator of The Little HODLer comic book and its characters is Lina. Lina is from Germany and in 2024 she moved to El Salvador, the Bitcoin-friendly country she often mentions in the series. 
Danny has had a key role in the creation of The Little HODLer. He’s an experienced businessman, who provides consulting to the business. Asli manages finances, operations, and customer relations. Asli answers people's questions related to The Little HODLer, and their orders. Tai is The Little HODLer’s product guy. He checks the quality of new products, and manages partnerships and business relationships.

In the comic book, characters live in HODLand. They take part in the crypto market, featuring different moments, including the creation of Bitcoin, dollar inflation, crypto regulation initiatives, and more.

The character is inspired by the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele. In September 2021, El Salvador became the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender.
