Time Magazine Names Donald Trump Person of the Year

Donald Trump is Time's Person of the Year for 2024, marking the second time he has received the title, the first being in 2016 after his U.S. presidential election victory.
Every year, since 1927, Time editors have shared their choice for Person of the Year.

Their list, over the years, has included people from different industries. Among them were Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Princess Kate Middleton, and others.

Time mentions that they name a person, group, or concept that had the biggest impact - for good or ill - on the world over the previous 12 months. In 2023, the magazine's choice was pop singer Taylor Swift, whose Eras tour saw record ticket demand.

Writing about President-elect Donald Trump, Time states:
On the cusp of his second presidency, all of us — from his most fanatical supporters to his most fervent critics — are living in the Age of Trump. He dispatched his Republican rivals in near record time.
Donald Trump’s victory has had a great impact on the crypto market. The pro-crypto politician said he would support the industry’s growth and stop enforcement actions.

Following Trump’s victory in November, Bitcoin saw a significant price increase, surpassing $100,000 for the first time in early December.

Trump congratulated Bitcoiners on the new all-time high on his platform, Truth Social, adding: “Together, we will Make America Great Again!”
