🔥 Uniswap Rolls Out Free Web3 Name Service for User Customization
posted 22 Feb 2024
Uniswap, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange, has recently launched a unique feature: free Web3 names for all its users. These aren't just any names; think "one.uni.eth" or "crypto.uni.eth" – a fresh take on the traditional crypto wallet format. Nicknames can be acquired and customized exclusively through the Uniswap mobile app.
The backend technology for these unique names comes from the Ethereum Name Service (ENS), enabling decentralized domains on the Ethereum blockchain. Thanks to this, Uniswap's Web3 names aren't just limited to their platform – they're universally applicable across any Web3 app that's ENS compatible.
While there's a cap of one pseudonym per address, Uniswap users can always create a new wallet for a different name selection. In a move to enhance the user experience further, Uniswap allows setting up a public social profile – you can add an avatar, pen down a biography, and link up your social media accounts.
Previously, the Uniswap Foundation announced their plans for launching the fourth version of the Uniswap Protocol on Ethereum's main network. Targeted for the third quarter of 2024, the company is focused on meticulous code testing and is inviting several independent firms for an extensive audit while organizing a developer contest.
