Anon World: A New Anonymous Social Platform on Farcaster

posted  3 Jan 2025
Blockchain developer Kartik Patel has launched Anon World, an innovative social platform built on the Farcaster protocol. Featuring a Reddit-style interface, community-driven discussions, and complete user anonymity, the platform aims to redefine the landscape of online social interactions.
A standout feature of Anon World is its use of zero-knowledge (ZK) credentials, stored locally in users’ browsers. This approach ensures no metadata or wallet information is collected, delivering unparalleled privacy for its users.

To join the platform, users are required to hold specific ERC20 tokens, currently supported only on the Base network.

We currently only support adding ERC20 credentials on Base, with more chains and types of credentials being added very soon

Patel’s earlier project, AnonCast, focused on enabling anonymous interactions through Farcaster and other platforms, requiring users to prove publishing rights via ownership of ANON tokens.

The architecture of the new project, Anon World, supports the creation of anonymous communities resembling subreddits, where users with shared credentials can collaborate and engage.

These communities are powered by tokens, shared Farcaster accounts, and wallets. By default, all posts on the platform are anonymous but can include non-anonymous replies, fostering richer discussions.

Users have the option to store credentials in local wallets or link them to key-based profiles, ensuring a consistent identity across devices without compromising anonymity.

This allows you to share credentials between devices and create a public link between your posts using those credential
Patel clarified.

What’s Next for Anon World?

Kartik Patel announced that a native application for Anon World is under development and expected to launch in the coming weeks. Future updates will focus on enhancing the platform’s functionality, including support for new types of credentials, expanded user actions, and additional features tailored for community engagement.

By leveraging zero-knowledge proofs and prioritizing user privacy, Anon World aims to redefine anonymous social networks, offering a secure and private space for interaction within the evolving Web3 ecosystem.
