Seeking to illustrate the practical value of blockchain beyond the realm of cryptocurrencies, Ethereum scaling solution, Polygon Labs, has unveiled a unique initiative called "The Value Prop." This project serves as an open database, collating and highlighting beneficial blockchain applications from across the globe.
Often likened to the 'Wikipedia of use cases', The Value Prop currently hosts a collection of 39 use cases and more than 300 applications. According to Rebecca Rettig, Chief Policy Officer at Polygon Labs, this platform is designed to be dynamic and ever-evolving. She anticipates that the database will expand further, incorporating more applications from various blockchain platforms, including the likes of Solana.

This innovative project comes at a time when regulators globally are grappling with the challenge of creating a balanced legislative framework around blockchain technologies, one that fosters innovation while safeguarding public interests. Rettig expressed optimism that The Value Prop could aid in altering the current regulatory narrative, shifting the focus away from the perceived negatives of "crypto casinos" and towards concrete examples of blockchain's potential to solve real-world issues.

The use cases documented in The Value Prop span across seven key sectors, including education, security & risk management, social impact & sustainability, finance, business & marketing, governance, and information technology. Examples range from the likes of the UNICEF CryptoFund, which employs cryptocurrencies to distribute donations transparently and trackably to those in need.

In addition to its extensive compilation of use cases, the platform also curates a testimonials page. Here, individuals can share written and video accounts of how blockchain technology has positively impacted their lives, further driving home the potential and versatility of blockchain applications.
