Buterin and Co.'s Privacy Pools: A Solution for Safer Blockchain
To combat criminal activities within the blockchain, Vitalik Buterin and four other contributors are pushing for a new feature called "Privacy Pools."
The project, open-source in nature, aims to resolve a severe weakness in Tornado Cash involving the mishandling of illicit funds.
Utilizing zero-knowledge proof mechanisms, the feature allows for the effective detection of any criminal endeavors. Users, by aggregating authentic transactions, can prove these are derived from bona fide deposits.
“All users with ‘good’ assets have strong incentives and the ability to prove their membership in a ‘good’-only association set. Bad actors, on the other hand, will not be able to provide that proof,” the project's documentation clearly states.
