✨ Durov Discusses Tokenization and Revenue Sharing at Token2049
posted 19 Apr 2024
During his keynote at the Token2049 conference, Pavel Durov, founder of Telegram, unveiled various blockchain integrations within the messaging app, including built-in NFTs and a new profit-sharing strategy for content creators.
He emphasized that channel owners will receive 50% of ad revenue, with ads being sold for TON, and users can currently withdraw their earnings in TON coins.
For content creators, the news is even better; those who design stickers and emojis will retain 95% of their earnings from sales. Telegram is also set to introduce a service similar to Patreon, where creators will keep 70% of the revenue, a move Durov calls "the most generous in digital history," promising further enhancements to content monetization.
Telegram users can also redeem and trade their usernames as NFTs on the Fragment blockchain auction. Interestingly, stickers and emojis will also be available as NFTs.
According to Durov, Telegram is also being used as a marketplace, prompting the integration with 40 payment instruments to optimize the platform for these needs.
He emphasized that these updates would leverage the TON blockchain, marking a significant increase in blockchain's role within Telegram’s ecosystem.
