Andre Cronje, the first DeFi developer and founder of Yearn.finance, is returning to the crypto industry. The community caught wind of this news from his LinkedIn profile, which was updated to the Vice President at the Fantom Foundation.
Andre has been called the most genius and the most flighty DeFi developer. His friends describe him as someone who is always "ready to abandon DeFi in favor of World of Warcraft on little more than a whim," and Cronje agrees that this assessment is 100% true.

What makes this person so special? What makes him stand out from other developers? Why did FTM's token price spike 24% just on rumors of his possible return to the Fantom Foundation?

First of all, he's a genius.

Synthetix co-founder Cain Warwick claimed that “Cronje will launch 58 new projects. And will eventually be revealed as a shapeshifting lizard person from Rylon 5, a race of super-intelligent Caiman-like people seeking to bring enlightenment to lesser planets.”

58 projects a year is certainly an exaggeration. But he has 25 apps successfully implemented. Additionally, he got major karma points for his DeFi yield farming protocol Yearn.Finance.

Secondly, he is virtually a true warrior for justice.

At the time of Yearn launch, Cronje demanded that all YFI tokens were rewarded proportionally to liquidity providers, with none reserved for the founding team. This fact gained the protocol founder a level of adoration that can only be compared to the cult of Satoshi Nakamoto.

Third, he holds traditional views in the crypto industry.

Cronje argues that the current state of "crypto culture has strangled crypto ethos". He explains that the crypto community should focus on concepts like sovereign rights, and empowerment, rather than ego and enrichment.
Andre believes that transparent regulation is necessary for cryptocurrencies "not as a mechanism to prevent, but as a mechanism to protect". If nothing changes, "the industry will become the badlands, a place where unknown wallets lurk in the shadows". But he will strive to do his part to the best of his ability to facilitate "the rise of a new blockchain economy, not one driven by greed, but instead driven by trust".

This manifesto marks the return of brilliant developer André Cronje to the crypto community. So the future of the project he plans to lead promises to be interesting.
