Casey Rodarmor, the mind behind Bitcoin Ordinals, has put forth a fresh proposal: the Runes protocol. Its primary function? Facilitating the generation of fungible tokens on Bitcoin's blockchain.
With a belief that Runes could decrease the surplus of "junk" UTXOs seen with BRC-20 tokens, Rodarmor points out its potential to bypass issues found in other fungible token protocols.
"Protocols that are UTXO-based fit more naturally into Bitcoin and promote UTXO set minimization by avoiding the creation of ‘junk’ UTXOs," declares Rodarmor.
The idea, while promising, is still at a preliminary stage without set developmental milestones.
However, a $100,000 incentive from Trevor Owens of The Ordinals Show might just drive its materialization.
