🔥 Monad Debuts on Devnet
posted 14 Mar 2024
Monad's blockchain has entered the Devnet phase, promising an unparalleled 10,000 TPS (transactions per second) per block—quintupling Tron's performance metrics. Its full compatibility with Ethereum, according to the developers, is achieved through an innovative Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) designed for parallel processing.
This means Ethereum's developers have the option to port their applications to Monad, potentially benefiting from a major speed boost for all apps. Yet, the practical benefits might be offset by the new blockchain's steep hardware demands, requiring at least twice the capacity compared to Ethereum operators.
Backed by Monad Labs, the project has attracted approximately $19 million in investment. Although initial mentions of a MON token for transaction fees were made, these details have since been removed. The public testnet is slated for the near future, with the mainnet launch targeted by the end of 2024.
