L2 blockchain Scroll, which leverages zk-rollup technology, has revealed the specifics of its upcoming SCR token airdrop. The airdrop will take place alongside the Token Generation Event (TGE), scheduled for October 22, 2024.

Recently, we reported that Scroll faced criticism after some wallets with only a few transactions received hundreds of thousands of Marks. These Marks represent Scroll's point system and were awarded for on-chain activity and liquidity provision.
It turns out that these Marks are now one of the key criteria for airdrop eligibility. A total of 40 million SCR (4% of the total supply) will be distributed proportionally among users who accumulated 200 or more Marks at the time of the snapshot (October 19, 2024, 00:00 UTC).

Additionally, bonus Marks were awarded for holding Scroll Canvas badges:

  • 1-4 badges (+25 Marks)
  • 5-9 badges (+40 Marks)
  • 10-19 badges (+50 Marks)
  • 20 or more badges (+60 Marks)

According to the data provided by Scroll, more than 570,000 wallets are eligible for the airdrop. In addition to the 40 million SCR distribution, another 10 million SCR will be distributed independently of the Mark count. This initiative, dubbed the Flat Boost, aims to create a more balanced distribution among community members, although further details were not disclosed.

An additional 5 million SCR will be allocated to those who met specific criteria by August 1, 2024. These criteria include:

  • Holding a top-level ENS name (e.g., scroll.eth) on Ethereum.
  • Donating more than $0.01 to any grant on Gitcoin.
  • Donating to any campaign on Juicebox.
  • Using a smart contract wallet on Scroll.

Other eligible recipients include contributors, researchers, and projects within the ecosystem. More details are available on the Scroll blog.
