A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers has called on President Joe Biden and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to assess the use of cryptocurrency by the terrorist group HAMAS, including the volume of confiscated or blocked assets.

Both Republicans and Democrats express concerns about the role of cryptocurrency in terrorist activities and question the potential involvement of Binance and Tether in supporting terrorism. The lawmakers have set a deadline for a response by November 29.

It's worth noting that the figures mentioned in their letter are based on incorrect information from a WSJ article. Lawmakers claim digital wallets associated with HAMAS and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad received approximately $41 million and $93 million, respectively. We've covered this case in detail here and here.

The lawmakers' letter also points to HAMAS's dealings with a U.S.-sanctioned Russian exchange, Binance, and Buy Cash in Gaza.
