Visa’s Head of Crypto Compares Blockchain to Early Internet
“The internet got the last laugh. Blockchain networks will get their turn,” says Visa’s Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield.
Sheffield sees blockchain as resembling the early internet, which transitioned from obscurity to ubiquity. He sees significant potential for this technology:
“Blockchains today share some parallels with the early internet—particularly more than their fair share of skeptics, hecklers, and critics.
”He anticipates Visa’s will involve more than “just multiple currencies and bank settlement rails, but also multiple blockchain networks, stablecoins, and CBDCs or tokenized deposits.
”Sheffield posited that blockchain will undergo significant maturation over the next decade.
