Bitcoin enthusiast Michael Saylor has announced that his company MicroStrategy has increased its BTC holdings by purchasing an additional 155 coins worth $5.3 million in October.

Since MS started investing in cryptocurrency, this is the first bitcoin sale. According to a report filed with the SEC, the company liquidated 704 BTC worth about $11.8 million on December 22. The document states: "MicroStrategy plans to carry forward capital losses resulting from this transaction against prior capital gains to the extent such carryforwards are available under applicable federal income tax laws." Additionally, between November 1 and December 21, 2022, MicroStrategy bought another 2,395 BTC at an average price of $17,871, according to the report.

On September 20, Michael Saylor’s MicroStrategy revealed that it had purchased another 7,420 BTC, with the acquisition totaling approximately $458.2 million.

With more than 1.5% of all Bitcoin ever mined on its balance sheet, MicroStrategy has entered the prestigious list of the top 100 largest public companies in the U.S. by market capitalization, claiming the 97th position.

MicroStrategy intends to raise up to $750 million through a stock sale, stating it might use the proceeds to purchase additional BTC. Saylor's company bought 467 BTC in July at an average price of $30,835, without any previous sales of Bitcoin. The company currently holds 152,800 BTC, valued at $4.53 billion.

In an interview with Bernstein analysts, Michael Saylor made it clear that MicroStrategy’s long-term goal is to become a major Bitcoin bank. He also predicted that the company could one day be valued in the trillions.

CoinShares has criticized MicroStrategy’s decision to pursue $42 billion in Bitcoin acquisitions, suggesting that the company should focus more on financial stability and bond attractiveness. MicroStrategy plans to fund the purchases by selling shares steadily over the next three years.

According to a filing on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website, Microsoft will bring the topic of corporate investments in Bitcoin to its next shareholders’ meeting on December 10.

Microsoft is experimenting with a new AI feature called "Intelligent Media Search," enabling users to search for audio and video files by their content. The AI model transcribes the content into text, which can then be indexed and searched.
