The activities that fall under the purview include custody, lending, trading, issuance, and distribution of crypto, including stablecoins.

The decision is driven by the challenging regulatory situation. American clients will be able to purchase cryptocurrency until September 2nd, with a selling prohibition coming into force from October 2nd. Following this, the crypto platform will become completely inaccessible to American users, putting a stop to all digital asset operations, including holding.

Raoul Pal, once at the helm of Goldman Sachs, envisions a steep rise in the global count of cryptocurrency users. He drew parallels between the initial decade of digital assets and internet evolution, leading to the conclusion that the tally of cryptocurrency enthusiasts could hit the 1.2 billion mark by the end of 2025. His projections suggest this number could catapult to a staggering 5.1 billion by 2030. The key drivers in achieving such an extensive digital asset adoption, he believes, will be Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and NFTs.

US House Financial Services Committee members, led by Chair Patrick McHenry, are seeking clarity from the SEC and FINRA about how Prometheum secured a special purpose broker-dealer (SPBD) license. They're probing if the SEC used Prometheum as a model firm to support Gary Gensler's stance that existing laws suffice for crypto regulation in the U.S. Despite Prometheum's claims of being pivotal for regulated digital asset offerings, the lawmakers pointed out that the firm hasn't served any customers yet. Also they raised concerns about potential ties between Prometheum and the Chinese Communist Party. The committee has requested related documents and communication records by Aug. 22.

Securitize, a digital asset trading platform, has started tokenizing equity in Spanish real estate investment trust, Mancipi Partners. The tokens will trade on the Avalanche blockchain from September. This marks the first tokenized equity issuance under the European Union’s pilot scheme for distributed ledger technology, supervised by the European Securities Market Authority. Securitize will also undergo a six-month supervision period by Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). Securitize's CEO, Carlos Domingo, believes the move will significantly benefit European businesses, providing new avenues for capital raises and potential tax benefits.
