After the announcement that MakerDAO intends to roll out a new version of its platform on Solana, Anatoly Yakovenko suggested this shouldn't be viewed as a challenge to Ethereum. In his perspective, MakerDAO's move accentuates the merits of open-source solutions rather than the superiority of one blockchain over another, especially given Ethereum's pivotal role in research for numerous developers. "Ethereum is awesome. Solana wasn’t built in a vacuum, and tons and tons of things that make Solana special were built based on Ethereum’s r&d," commented the Solana co-founder. Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has sold all his MKR tokens for 353 ETH.

Solana Pay, a decentralized payment protocol by Solana Labs, has teamed up with global commerce leader, Shopify. This integration offers real-time access to funds for merchants, eliminating bank fees, chargebacks, and holding times. Also it enables millions of Shopify merchants to accept payments in stablecoins, enhancing the shopping experience for consumers.

Stated to be a staggering 10 times faster than Solana, the network accomplishes transaction finality in just 250 milliseconds. Trading of the blockchain's native token (SEI) has started on different centralized exchanges, and it's now valued at approximately $0.19. There's also news of an airdrop, but claiming will be permitted only after the "initial warm-up period." The time frame for this warm-up has not yet been revealed.

It appears that Mark and Elon aren’t the only ones itching for a showdown. Following Buterin’s critique of Solana for its scalability being hampered by centralization and significant computational requirements, the community urged Solana’s creator to challenge Buterin to a duel. The Solana Foundation has released a report emphasizing enhanced performance metrics of its blockchain. These cover a range of aspects, including block time, TPS, and network uptime. Solana experienced only one outage in Q1 2023. Since February 25, the network has been running seamlessly. According to Dune Analytics, Solana can handle around 3780 transactions per second.
